Ghostbusters of Australia Conference: Surprise Endings
It began when everything was the ‘old’ normal, when people could gather in large groups shoulder to shoulder, with their faces exposed and people coughed freely. Salubrious Events’ Ghostbusters of Australia Conference took place in March 2020.
First there was the Ghost Investigation Night on Friday the 13th! The Events Manager, Joyce Bok, initially visited the Mount Martha Community Centre to talk to the staff working there. They confirmed that they had experienced too many unexplained occurrences to deny any ghostly interactions at the place. Built in 1889, the place was a Coffee Palace Guest-House. Later on, it served as a private residence, then a residence for the RAAF personnel before becoming a community centre.
It was a sold-out event with twenty-five people and many rooms to explore. We broke up into smaller groups with mediums Roquelle Frances and Brett Farrell and Paranormal Investigator, Dr Vladimir Dubaj. Many ghosts were ‘picked up,’ both happy and sad. Attendees had a go at sensing and many had it confirmed by the mediums and the Security Guard onsite!
Then towards the end of the night, we had a surprise! We all sat in one room and Dr Dubaj placed some ‘trigger’ objects in the room. Nothing happened for a while. Then when we were distracted by one of the attendees telling us about her parallel life experience, Boom! One of the trigger objects went off, lighting up the room with a kaleidoscope of colours. Three of the attendees said that just before this occurred, they saw one of the windows moving in a waving motion. Roquelle and another attendee said that they saw a white male figure running towards the trigger object just before it lit up. I had just turned my video camera off! Typical!
On Saturday 21st March, the all-day conference was held. We went through two venues cancelling on us due to the Covid-19 Lockdown! That was the second surprise! The conference was moved to an online platform. Our Black Fella Originee (he prefers this term) speaker got sick on the day as well! We pushed on, with Roquelle Frances talking about how the Ego interferes with accurate readings in Mediumship. Following this, Kosta Srbnoff talked about using the tool of Dowsing to sense energies and how he clears haunted spaces using more traditional techniques taught by his Gypsy family from Makedonija. Then we had Dr Vladimir Dubaj talk about the basics and equipment one needs to conduct a paranormal investigation. Lastly, we had Ghostbuster Brett Farrell talk about entity attachments and how they cause problems for individuals.
The conference was well received and attendees wanted to stay longer, given the stimulating discussion. It would have been better of course, to have this face to face. Once this covid-19 lockdowns are over, we look forward to holding another Ghostbusters of Australia event!
